(Central News Agency reporter Wu Jui-chi, Taoyuan, 15th) The Taoyuan City Department of Public Health stated that regarding the suspected food poisoning cases after consuming meals from the "Ueno Roast Meat Rice - Neili Branch", as of noon today, the cumulative number of people reported with symptoms has reached 104, of which 69 sought medical attention. The business remains suspended, and preliminary lab reports from environmental and food samples are expected as early as this week.

Huang Shu-hui, acting section chief of the Food Management and Inspection Section of the Taoyuan City Department of Public Health, said in a media interview that as of 12:00 PM, a total of 104 people have reported symptoms, with 69 of them seeking medical help. The health bureau sent relevant food and environmental samples to the laboratory yesterday. A preliminary report is expected to be available this week at the earliest, but the exact timeline depends on the microbiological culture conditions.

Huang Shu-hui pointed out that the "Ueno Roast Meat Rice - Neili Branch" is currently under an order to suspend operations. The business will only be allowed to resume after the environment passes reinspection, the operator submits a resumption application and an improvement report, and the health bureau confirms and conducts a successful on-site reinspection.

The health bureau stated that it continuously received notifications from hospitals yesterday that citizens had purchased lunch and dinner bentos from the "Ueno Roast Meat Rice - Neili Branch" on the 13th and subsequently developed symptoms of suspected food poisoning. If investigations reveal violations of the "Good Hygiene Practices (GHP)", the shop will be ordered to improve within a time limit. If it fails to improve by the deadline, it will face a fine ranging from NT$60,000 to NT$200 million in accordance with the "Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation".

The health bureau stated that if the test results confirm it as a food poisoning incident, the case will be transferred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for investigation due to violations of the Food Safety Act. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui)
