New York, April 13 (CNA) - The failure of talks between the United States and Iran over the weekend to reach an agreement to end the conflict shook investor confidence, putting pressure on a stock market that had just shown signs of recovery and potentially reigniting market volatility. Major Wall Street indices opened lower today.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened down 198.4 points, or 0.41%, at 47718.21 points.

The S&P 500 opened slightly down 10.4 points, or 0.15%, at 6806.47 points.
