A nanny and her friend in Tainan City have been indicted on suspicion of infant abuse. After the incident came to light, the city's Social Affairs Bureau has already taken strict measures by revoking the nanny's registration and banning her from childcare services for life. A fine of up to NT$600,000 may also be imposed after the judicial verdict.

The Tainan City Government's Social Affairs Bureau told Central News Agency today that on December 6, 2025, it received a report that a registered nanny surnamed Cheng and her friend surnamed Chang in Madou District were illegally taking in children and were suspected of improper treatment of a child. The bureau immediately demanded that the two involved individuals stop taking in new children and assisted all children in being transferred and placed according to their parents' needs.

The Social Affairs Bureau stated that at the end of last year, it had already imposed a strict penalty in accordance with Article 26-1 of the Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act. The childcare provider surnamed Cheng had her childcare provider registration certificate revoked and is banned from providing childcare services for life. The person surnamed Chang was fined according to the law for providing childcare services without registration.

The Social Affairs Bureau pointed out that the entire case will depend on the outcome of the judicial verdict. If improper behavior is confirmed, the two perpetrators will be fined between NT$60,000 and NT$600,000 each according to the law.
