Pingtung Launches "Spring Forest" Activities with Walks and Film Festival at Main Library for World Book Day

The Pingtung County Government Cultural Affairs Department announced today, April 14, that in response to World Book Day on April 23, they are launching the "Spring Forest" series of activities. The event, centered on "Reading x Forest x Life," combines a market, book exhibition, and film festival to create a diverse experience integrating nature and reading. The "Spring Forest Market" will be held on April 18 and 19 from 2 PM to 8 PM at the outdoor plaza of the Pingtung Main Library, featuring over 40 stalls offering plants, cultural and creative handicrafts, and light meals/desserts. The market will also include drone football experiences, storytelling, DIY crafts, and ecological walks around the library. A stamp collection lottery will be held during the two-day market, where participants collecting three stamps can enter a draw for the grand prize: "100 selected books" jointly recommended by 10 independent bookstores in Pingtung. During the market, the "Wild Hope Film Festival" and post-screening discussions will take place in the 5th-floor lecture hall of the Pingtung Main Library. "Witness to Whales" will be screened on April 18 at 2 PM, and "Real Bug Crisis: Big City" on April 19 at the same time, using visuals to encourage audiences to focus on natural environment and ecological issues. Participants who complete the entire program can receive teacher training and civil servant learning hours. The Cultural Affairs Department noted that the "Spring Forest" series is not limited to the market; a themed book exhibition will run until July on the 2nd floor of the Pingtung Main Library and at the Eslite Bookstore Pingtung Main Library limited store.
