Kaohsiung, April 13 (CNA) The 2026 "French Festival in Kaohsiung" will be held from May 22 to 24 at the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts. The city government today unveiled the event's dual main visuals, inviting a French illustrator to create vibrant designs that showcase Kaohsiung's landscape in both day and night.
The "French Festival in Kaohsiung" first launched in 2024, attracting 160,000 visitors in 2025, with a cumulative total of over 270,000 visitors in two years. This year, it will take place from May 22 to 24 at the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, with the theme "Paris Champs-Élysées, Symphony Night." The event scale has been upgraded, and the content is richer.
The Kaohsiung City Government today unveiled the 2026 event's main visuals, created by a French illustrator. The lively artistic style integrates Kaohsiung's urban imagery with French art, introducing for the first time "Daylight" and "Nightscape" dual main visual designs, presenting Kaohsiung's landscape at different times of day.
The "Daylight" version uses bright colors to outline a leisurely and light rhythm of life, while the "Nightscape" version creates a romantic and rhythmic urban night scene through light, shadow, and stage atmosphere, echoing this year's theme "Paris Champs-Élysées, Symphony Night."
The city government's Administrative and International Affairs Department today issued a press release stating that this year's event will transform the Weiwuying outdoor theater and surrounding lawn into an open art and cultural space, inviting the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the NSO National Symphony Orchestra to perform. There will also be a famous Boléro dance workshop, inviting citizens to personally experience French art.
The event will also feature an outdoor cinema area, continuously screening classic French films for three days, and setting up French pétanque and football experience zones. In addition, the French market will offer desserts, French cuisine, creative cultural designs, and lifestyle selections, and will invite local French restaurants and bakeries to set up limited-time pop-up restaurants.
The "French Festival in Kaohsiung" is jointly organized by the city government's Administrative and International Affairs Department, the French Office in Taipei, and the Association of French in Taiwan. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai and Franck Paris, Director of the French Office in Taipei, invite the public to visit Weiwuying and experience this Taiwanese-French cultural feast that combines music, art, and lifestyle aesthetics.
