The Tainan City Government issued a press release stating that the 'Taiwan Festival' is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the Taiwan Festival Executive Committee has specially chosen 'Tainan' as its theme. Tainan's unique charm, including the hand-painted lanterns from Tainan's Puji Temple and Tainan-exclusive snacks, has been brought to Japan. Mayor Huang Wei-che led a delegation today to promote Tainan at the Tokyo Skytree exhibition area and the Gunma Ota exhibition area, hoping to implant Tainan's wonderful flavors deeply in the hearts of the Japanese people.
The city government noted that Huang Wei-che introduced Tainan as Taiwan's culinary capital to the public at the Skytree exhibition area. On-site, there were Tainan specialty dishes such as Danzai noodles, shrimp rice, and desserts made from mango and pineapple. He also unveiled the special 'Tainan Select' shop set up during the event, which showcases Tainan's characteristic souvenirs like pineapple cakes, dried mango and pineapple series fruits, milkfish floss, minced pork sauce, and sesame cakes.
In addition to distributing samples and enthusiastically recommending 'Tainan flavors' to the Japanese public, Huang Wei-che also warmly invited Japanese people to visit Tainan to experience its profound historical culture and rich culinary delights.
Huang Wei-che then proceeded to the 'Taiwan Festival in Gunma Ota 2026 Tainan Lantern Festival' held in Ota, Gunma Prefecture, where he personally distributed high-quality dried Tainan fruits for public tasting, creating a lively atmosphere.
The city government stated that the 'Taiwan Festival' is being held simultaneously in two cities, Tokyo and Gunma, and will continue until May 31. Huang Wei-che hopes to use this opportunity to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation between Tainan and the Japanese market, and to enhance the export performance of agricultural and fishery specialties.
