The "Wind Rises, Clouds Wander: National High School Illustration A4 Show," organized by Huafan University's Department of Fine Arts and Cultural & Creative Industries, adopted the theme "Beyond AI" this year, attracting nearly 500 entries. A total of 44 works received awards, including 3 special awards, 5 excellent awards, 15 merit awards, and 21 selected works. The exhibition is open from its commencement until April 16 at the Bridge Art Space in the Huafan University New Taipei Banqiao Center. Huafan University President Li Tian-ren remarked on the immense power of AI, questioning whether AI-generated works truly represent the creator's full self or merely a masked version. He stressed that the creator's mental engagement is crucial for producing works with genuine thought. The three special award recipients were Zheng Yin-xuan from Muzha Vocational High School, Lin Pin-ru from Tainan University Affiliated High School, and Du Xing-huan from Ankang High School. Zheng Yin-xuan's work, "Dream," transcended flat art conventions by using multi-media 3D art to represent dreams, employing tangible textures and dreamlike irrationality to starkly contrast AI's calm rationality. First-year high school student Lin Pin-ru uniquely crafted a moving fairy tale 3D book, demonstrating intricate craftsmanship and exquisite artistry. Opening the locked book reveals a romantic, fantastical fairy tale world, with characters like owls, frog princes, mermaids, and the Big Bad Wolf springing to life. A rotating clock dial even conceals an AI robot. Lin stated that she self-taught 3D book creation during her winter break, dedicating her entire holiday to the project.
