National Security Education Enters Campuses: China Promotes Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students

SHANGHAI, April 14 (Central News Agency) — On the eve of China's National Security Education Day (April 15), the "National Security Education Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students," compiled by the National Textbook Committee Office and relevant central departments, have been published and distributed. These textbooks aim to establish concepts such as Party leadership and the supremacy of national interests, with a mandate for all regions and schools to use them.

China is about to usher in its 11th National Security Education Day. According to CCTV News on April 14, the "National Security Education Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students," organized and compiled by the National Textbook Committee Office and relevant central departments, were jointly published and distributed by People's Publishing House and People's Education Press.

The National Security Education Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students consist of four volumes: upper and lower volumes for primary school, one volume for junior high school, and one volume for senior high school.

The upper volume for primary school mainly introduces basic knowledge of national security, allowing students to feel that they live in a safe country and understand that the country's safety and stability are the result of the collective efforts of various industries under the Party's leadership. The lower volume for primary school selects case stories related to national security, guiding students to enhance their national security awareness and ability to maintain security.

The junior high school volume, through case introductions and knowledge explanations, guides students to understand the holistic view of national security, form a basic understanding of security in various fields, and initially establish the concept of "national interests first." The senior high school volume revolves around "ten insistences," guiding students to recognize the important role of national security in national development, establish a "grand security" concept, and firmly uphold the confidence and determination to maintain national security.

A relevant official from China's Ministry of Education stated that the "National Security Education Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students" are the "authoritative textbooks" for primary and secondary schools and secondary vocational schools nationwide to conduct national security education and systematically study the holistic view of national security. They can be used in conjunction with the already published "National Security Education Textbooks for University Students" to achieve effective integration from primary school to university.

China's Ministry of Education requires all regions and schools to use the "National Security Education Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Students" in conjunction with the "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era Student Textbooks" and primary and secondary school ideological and political textbooks, serving as teaching materials for specialized national security education and promoting the implementation of national security education in primary and secondary schools.
