British Influencer Challenges Taiwan Cycling Tour, Police Timely Rescue from Hypothermia in Hehuan Mountain Area

The Hsinchuang Police Precinct announced today that officers from the Hehuan Police Station, while on patrol recently in the afternoon along Provincial Highway 14A at the 37-kilometer mark of the Central Cross-Island Highway, discovered a foreign woman sitting by the roadside with her off-road bicycle overturned. After inquiring in English, the woman stated that she was unable to continue due to the low mountain temperatures and exhaustion. After confirming she had no obvious external injuries, the officers immediately drove her back to the police station for rest, providing hot tea, heat packs, and heating equipment to help her regain body temperature.
After her condition improved, the woman explained that she is from the United Kingdom, a YouTuber who cycles around the world, and was challenging a solo cycling tour of Taiwan. That day, she departed from Nantou, intending to travel to Taroko National Park in Hualien to film scenery, but underestimated the high-altitude climate and the difficulty of the route, leading to hypothermia and a perilous situation.
In addition to providing immediate assistance, the Hehuan Police Station officers also thoughtfully prepared hot food to replenish her energy and helped arrange nearby accommodation for her to rest for one night. The woman expressed deep gratitude to the police for their timely assistance, directly stating that they "saved her life" and allowed her to deeply feel the warmth of Taiwanese hospitality.
The Hsinchuang Police Precinct reminds the public that mountainous areas have changeable weather and large temperature differences between day and night.
