The Taipei Fire Department received the report and rushed to the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished within 20 minutes, 312 people were evacuated from the scene, and 5 people were sent to the hospital due to smoke inhalation and discomfort. The cause is suspected to be the burning of kitchen exhaust ducts.

The Taipei police and fire department received a report around 11:26 AM, stating that a fire had occurred at the 'Xiang Xiang' restaurant, part of the Shin Bin Group, within Breeze Xinyi Department Store in Xinyi District. They immediately dispatched 4 command vehicles, 17 fire trucks, 5 ambulances, and 67 personnel to the scene. A total of 312 people (159 males, 153 females) were evacuated.

According to preliminary understanding, the fire was likely caused by the burning of grease in the restaurant's kitchen exhaust ducts, leading to dense smoke. Firefighters quickly arrived to control the fire, preventing it from spreading, and extinguished it by 11:45 AM.

The fire damaged stoves and miscellaneous items, with a burned area of approximately 5 square meters. A total of 5 people (3 males and 2 females) were sent to the hospital; four were restaurant staff, all with minor smoke inhalation and clear consciousness, and another civilian was sent for medical treatment due to discomfort.

The police appeal to catering businesses to regularly inspect kitchen equipment and exhaust duct lines to ensure the normal operation of fire safety equipment and prevent similar incidents from occurring. Citizens who discover a fire should immediately report it to 119 and evacuate according to instructions. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150413
