The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today in a press release that Lin Chia-lung, at the invitation of the government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, will lead a business and trade delegation as a presidential envoy to visit the Marshall Islands from the 7th to the 9th. The delegation includes Hu Chi-chuan, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs; Tsai Shu-chen, Deputy Director General of the Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare; Shih Li-chun, Deputy Secretary General of the International Cooperation and Development Fund; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "Drone Diplomacy Task Force."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that the business and trade delegation also includes over 60 representatives from industries such as fisheries, shipping, cold chain logistics, medical equipment, food processing, clean energy, and information and communication technology. It is hoped that through a "public-private partnership, with large enterprises leading small ones" model, more Taiwanese businesses will be matched to invest in the Marshall Islands, thereby promoting the "Glorious Nation Project."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that, in addition, to implement the "Taiwan-Marshall Islands Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA)" which will take effect on January 15, 2025, this trip will also host the first preparatory meeting for the Taiwan-Marshall Islands ECA consultation and a "Marshall Islands Investment Opportunities Briefing" in the Marshall Islands, opening a new chapter for expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during Lin Chia-lung's visit to the Marshall Islands, he will meet with Marshallese President Hilda C. Heine, Speaker of Parliament Brenson Wase, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kalani Kaneko, and other Marshallese dignitaries and local traditional leaders. He will also visit important bilateral cooperation achievements such as the "Micronesian Games Athletics Field," the "Majuro Hospital Telemedicine Center," and the "Poultry Farming Project Chicken Farm."
