(Central News Agency, Puebla, Mexico, 16th -综合 foreign media report) The government of Puebla state in central Mexico announced today that a journalist specializing in security reporting was fatally shot by assailants on a motorcycle.

According to AFP, the press freedom advocacy group Article 19 stated that Josue Martinez was the head of Noticias San Martin Texmelucan, a media outlet covering local security and major issues. Article 19 called for an investigation into Martinez's death and expressed strong suspicion that his professional work was the motive behind the attack.

The Puebla state government condemned the murder and urged prosecutors to launch a full investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Local media reported that Martinez was shot near his home by two gunmen riding a motorcycle. His son, who was nearby, immediately called the police.

Martinez, a former lawyer who later transitioned into journalism, was known by the nickname 'The Jaguar'.

Another local media figure, journalist Roxana Guzman, was abducted from her home in mid-June and her body was discovered in early July in Veracruz state in eastern Mexico. That region has seen multiple attacks targeting journalists.

According to Reporters Without Borders, more than 150 media professionals have been killed in Mexico since 1994, making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists. (Intern translator: Wei-Zhen Qiu / Reviewer: Ho Hung-Ju) 1150717
