According to statistics from the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the local stock index dropped 2,953.71 points today, closing at 42,671.27 points. Over the week, the index fell 2,683.34 points, a decline of approximately 5.92%. The total market capitalization of all listed companies stood at NT$139.362407 trillion, down NT$8.676361 trillion from the previous week, representing a decrease of about 5.86%.
The exchange noted that among industry indices, the utilities and gas sector recorded the highest weekly gain at 30.30%, while the glass and ceramics sector suffered the steepest drop at 11.85%. The non-financial index fell 2,544.41 points (approximately 6.25%), the non-electronics index dropped 63.87 points (about 0.27%), and the non-financial-electronics index rose 162.05 points, gaining 1.03%.
This week, the total transaction value in the centralized market reached NT$5.587097 trillion, with listed stocks accounting for NT$5.023514 trillion. The weekly stock turnover rate was 3.79%.
The top three industries by trading value were: semiconductors (NT$2.004867 trillion, 39.91% of total), electronic components (NT$1.269247 trillion, 25.27%), and computer and peripherals (NT$289.154 billion, 5.76%).
From the beginning of the year through today, covering 128 trading days, the cumulative transaction value in the centralized market reached NT$132.333310 trillion. The daily average transaction value was NT$1.033854 trillion, with a cumulative stock turnover rate of 114.23% and a daily average turnover rate of 0.89%. (Editor: Chang Chun-mao)
