Taiwan Stock Market Drops 6.61 Points

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 16th) The Taipei stock market closed down 6.61 points today at 45,624.98, a 0.01% decline, with a trading value of NT$900.838 billion.

The weighted index opened at 45,511.98, reaching a high of 45,855.02 and a low of 44,970.64 during the session. The non-financial index stood at 41,038.5, down 5.49 points.

Performance of the eight major sectors: Cement & Ceramics down 1.66%, Food up 1%, Petrochemicals down 1.56%, Textiles up 0.52%, Machinery & Electronics down 0.03%, Paper & Pulp down 1.02%, Construction up 1.46%, Financials down 0.03%.

Buy orders totaled 20,973,588 shares, sell orders 13,687,850 shares, with 10,253,509 shares traded.

At closing, 398 stocks rose, 614 fell, and 94 remained unchanged.
