(Central News Agency reporter Chen Yu-ting, Taipei, July 16) Following the activation of LED passage indicator lights at Taipei Metro's Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station, Taipei Main Station has joined the trial program starting today. Two gate barriers on the B3 level near the High-Speed Rail (HSR) and Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) directions have been removed and replaced with red and green lights to indicate ticket validation results.

At Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station, near Exit 5, the 'Gate LED Passage Identification Indicator' system was launched on June 10. Two red gate barriers were removed, allowing passengers to instantly understand ticket validation results through red and green lights without stopping, enabling faster passage through the gates.

Taipei Metro Company announced today in a press release that Taipei Main Station has now joined the trial. The two gate barriers on the B3 level near the HSR and TRA directions have been removed, and LED passage identification indicators have been installed. A new flashing red light warning function has also been added to indicate unauthorized entry.

Taipei Metro stated that the indicator system has received positive feedback from many passengers, as it allows intuitive and faster identification of ticket validation results without needing to check the gate screen. Therefore, the system is now being trialed at the equally busy Taipei Main Station. The company will continue to monitor the trial and collect passenger feedback for future service improvements.

Taipei Metro warns that individuals attempting to evade fares by tailgating others through the gates will be required, under Article 49 of the Mass Transit Act, to pay the fare plus a penalty of 50 times the ticket price. (Edited by Hsiao Po-wen) 1150716
