The AI era is transforming how travelers discover, plan, and book their trips. According to travel industry data, as high as 91% of Asia-Pacific travelers use AI to assist in trip planning, with 36% willing to complete bookings directly based on AI recommendations.

Travel platform Klook recently hosted the '2026 Klook AI Konnect Travel Trends Forum & Premium Partner Awards Ceremony,' collaborating with Taiwan's Tourism Administration, the Chinese Cultural Association, the Chinese Professional Baseball League, and representatives from industry, government, and academia. Over 100 partners from experience tours, transportation, dining vouchers, and accommodations gathered to discuss new international traveler trends in the AI era and how Taiwan's tourism industry can leverage data, technology, and content innovation to bring more local experiences to global travelers.

Klook stated in a press release that AI will become a key factor in future travel decisions—from how travelers discover destinations to how travel products are understood and recommended.

Klook's Vice President of Marketing Technology and Products, Yang Gao, emphasized that future travel products must not only be searchable but also understandable, recommendable, and trustworthy by AI.

According to Klook's data, as AI reshapes how travelers search, plan, and consume, 91% of Asia-Pacific travelers use AI for trip planning, and 36% are willing to book directly through AI recommendations. Ensuring that Taiwan's travel offerings are visible, understandable, and bookable by international travelers has become a critical competitive factor for the industry.

Professor Hsi-Lin Liu from the Graduate Institute of Tourism at National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism noted that in the AI era, whether tourism content can be understood by AI will directly affect whether international travelers can discover destinations. Making Taiwan's tourism content readable, recommendable, and bookable by AI is a key challenge for the next phase of the tourism industry.

Additionally, OdinEye Group has recently launched an AI booking system targeting the AI wave, assisting hotels, B&Bs, online travel agencies (OTAs), and accommodation providers in directly handling reservations and payments initiated by AI agents.

OdinEye Group explained that, for example, if a traveler tells an AI agent, 'Find me a seaside room in Phuket for under $200 next weekend and book it directly,' the AI can autonomously complete the entire process—from searching, comparing, selecting rooms, payment, to confirmation.
