Local Elections at Year-End: KMT Finalizes Nominations for Lienchiang County Councilors and Township Chiefs

(Central News Agency, Lienchiang County, July 4) The Lienchiang County branch of the Kuomintang (KMT) held a committee meeting today, officially approving the list of nominees for county councilors and township chiefs in the year-end local elections, as well as the schedule for candidate registration for township representatives and village chiefs.

The Lienchiang County branch of the Kuomintang issued a press release today stating that a county committee meeting was held on the morning of July 4, presided over by Lienchiang County Magistrate Wang Chung-ming on behalf of Chairman Chen Hsueh-sheng. The meeting approved the nominations for county councilors, chiefs of each township, and the schedule and key points for candidate registration for township representatives and village chiefs.

The county branch announced that the approved nominees for county councilors are Chen Shu-chien, Lin Ming-yang, and Tsao Cheng-chun for the Nankan constituency; Chou Jui-kuo and Chen Yu-fa for the Peikang constituency; Chen Yi-pin for the Kuangguang constituency; and Lin Te-chien for the Tungyin constituency.

The nominees for township chief are Lin Chih-tung for the Nankan constituency; Wu Chin-ping for the Peikang constituency; and Chen Lo-li for the Kuangguang constituency. For the Tungyin constituency, Lin Yu-chao and Feng Yin-le have been approved to run.

Among these, all county councilors except Lin Te-chien, and all township chiefs except Lin Yu-chao and Feng Yin-le, are seeking re-election.

The county branch stated that the schedule for candidate registration for township representatives and village chiefs will be announced on July 7. Application forms will be available from July 8 to 10, registration will be accepted from July 13 to 15, and a coordination meeting for township representative and village chief registrations will be held on July 21.
