(Central News Agency, Peshawar, July 3, Comprehensive Foreign News) Pakistani officials said a passenger bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine in the mountainous western region today, falling more than 20 meters and killing at least 40 people.
According to Agence France-Presse, Sanaullah Sherani, head of the emergency rescue center in the Zhob district of Baluchistan province, said: "A passenger bus traveling from Quetta to Peshawar plunged into a deep ravine in the Dana Sar mountain area... 40 people have been confirmed dead, and 11 others were injured."
Sherani said the injured have been sent to the hospital, and three of them are in critical condition.
He added: "The bus fell about 21 to 24 meters into the deep ravine." (Compiled by Hong Pei-ying) 1150703
