(CNA Taipei, July 1st) The Presidential Office today issued a presidential decree stating that Jenny Yang, a Minister without Portfolio in the Executive Yuan, who was suspended due to alleged workplace bullying, has been dismissed, effective today.
It is reported that Yen Hui-hsin, former deputy chief negotiator for the Executive Yuan's Office of Trade Negotiations, allegedly experienced workplace ostracism before her passing. On the 26th, the Executive Yuan released the findings of an external committee investigation, which stated that Jenny Yang, Minister without Portfolio and chief negotiator of the Office of Trade Negotiations, repeatedly negated Yen Hui-hsin's opinions in an offensive and negative manner and interrupted her while speaking, creating an offensively unfriendly work environment. This caused Yen Hui-hsin to suffer immense psychological and physical stress, constituting workplace bullying. Premier Cho Jung-tai stated at the end of June that Jenny Yang would be suspended.
Jenny Yang issued two statements denying the bullying, questioning the investigation report as being based on the one-sided accounts of a few individuals and lacking due process as it did not provide any opportunity for explanation or defense. She also mentioned that for several months, some media outlets have published pre-judgment, overwhelming negative reports. However, the investigation report clearly stated that these accusations lacked concrete evidence and were unfounded, proving that these statements were fabricated by specific individuals intentionally creating an unfair public opinion atmosphere against her. She does not rule out taking legal action to clarify the truth. (Editor: Hsieh Chia-chen) 1150701
