(Central News Agency reporter Tseng Yi-ning, Taipei, July 1) Taiwan People's Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang announced personnel orders at the party's Central Committee meeting today. Wu Huang-sheng, a spokesperson for the Taichung City Chapter who was previously involved in a poll controversy, has been transferred to the position of Policy Committee Executive Director and Spokesperson. The Taiwan People's Party also announced that this year's party anniversary will be held in Taichung on August 2.
In the nomination for the Taiwan People's Party's Taichung City Beitun District city councilor, Chiu Yu-shan defeated former Taichung City Information Bureau Director Wu Huang-sheng with 74% in the party's primary poll, securing the party's nomination. Afterward, Chiu Yu-shan stated that she was asked by Taichung City Chapter Chairman Chen Ching-lung to withdraw from the election because the party intended to nominate Wu Huang-sheng, who lost the poll.
The Taiwan People's Party held its Central Committee meeting today and issued a press release afterward stating that Huang Kuo-chang announced a new wave of first-level executive personnel orders during the meeting. These included the appointment of Taichung City Chapter Spokesperson Wu Huang-sheng as Policy Committee Executive Director and Spokesperson; the appointment of original Propaganda Group Deputy Secretary-General Li Ting-li as Propaganda Group Deputy Secretary-General; the appointment of original News Department Acting Director and Spokesperson Chang Tung as News Department Director and Spokesperson; and the appointment of original Social Development Department Deputy Section Chief Yu Chih-hsiu as Organization Development Department Deputy Director.
Huang Kuo-chang stated that many of the recent controversies involving the Taichung Beitun District that have appeared in the media are fabrications and speculation from external sources. Wu Huang-sheng possesses complete administrative experience and a professional background, with expertise in construction planning and engineering, as well as capabilities in policy planning, administrative management, and public communication. Therefore, after Wu Huang-sheng clearly expressed to the party headquarters his intention not to run in the 2026 Taichung City Beitun District city councilor election, he was invited to take on the role of Policy Committee Executive Director and concurrently serve as spokesperson.
Furthermore, regarding recent campus safety issues, Huang Kuo-chang stated that he has instructed the Taiwan People's Party caucus in the Legislative Yuan to comprehensively review the problems and shortcomings caused by the current system. Simultaneously, they will accelerate the passage of the "School Lunch Special Act" to establish a complete school lunch system, requiring schools to hire professional nutritionists and lunch consultants, allowing teachers to focus on teaching.
Taiwan People's Party Secretary-General Chou Yu-hsiu reported at the meeting that the Taiwan People's Party's 2026 National Congress and 7th Anniversary Party Celebration have been officially finalized and will be held in Taichung on August 2.
