MOSCOW (CNA) – The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on the 26th that its air defense systems intercepted 660 Ukrainian drones overnight across more than a dozen regions, marking one of the highest single-day figures since the onset of the conflict.

According to AFP, the ministry reported on the state-run platform 'Max' that the drones were destroyed over territories including Moscow, the Crimean Peninsula, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that at least 47 drones targeting the capital were intercepted. He noted on Telegram that emergency services were operating at the sites where debris fell, with no immediate reports of casualties or significant property damage.

In the Tula region, located roughly 180 kilometers south of Moscow, Governor Dmitry Milyaev described the incident as a 'massive' attack. Milyaev reported via Telegram that a residential building in the Shchekino district sustained damage, resulting in one injury to a female resident.

In recent months, Ukraine has intensified long-range drone operations against Russia, specifically targeting energy infrastructure to disrupt revenue streams supporting the Kremlin's war effort, which is now entering its fifth year. Last week, a similar Ukrainian strike triggered a fire at an oil refinery southeast of Moscow.
