The Taiwan Railways Corporation (TRC) announced today that operations on the Neiwan Line between Zhuzhong and Zhudong have been suspended following a landslide. Simultaneously, the Pingxi Line between Ruifang and Jingtong has been closed as a precautionary measure due to rainfall levels exceeding safety thresholds.
TRC reported that a landslide occurred at K11+800 between Shangyuan and Ronghua on the Neiwan Line at 8:15 AM. Consequently, the section between Zhuzhong and Zhudong is currently impassable, and emergency bus shuttle services have been arranged to assist commuters.
Furthermore, regarding the Pingxi Line, the TRC confirmed that real-time monitoring of precipitation levels exceeded the alert value, triggering a preventive closure of the track between Ruifang and Jingtong, with substitute road transport now in operation.
The Central Weather Administration noted that with the approach of Typhoon Ampil and the strengthening of the southwest monsoon, southern Taiwan has already experienced extreme heavy rainfall. Today, the western half of the country continues to face potential thunderstorms, with heavy rain expected in some areas. The eastern regions, along with Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, should remain alert for local short-duration heavy rainfall.
