The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) announced on the 26th that it will resume its "Summer Camp for Children of Taiwanese Businesspeople" this year. The program was suspended last year due to budget cuts. SEF Secretary-General Luo Wen-jia stated that despite the Legislative Yuan having yet to finalize the budget, internal assessments led to the decision to move forward with the initiative.

Luo noted that the program has historically received strong feedback, with consistent calls for its continuation. The camp is scheduled to hold three sessions in July, focusing on diverse topics such as the history of Taiwan's various ethnic groups and cultural landscapes.

Reflecting on last year’s suspension, Luo explained that the cancellation was caused by a reduction in subsidies from the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC). Regarding the financial risk of proceeding without current legislative approval, Luo stated, "If we face a funding shortage, we will find a way to resolve it."

Luo emphasized that the SEF remains committed to its core operations. He expressed hope that the legislature would understand the tangible value and transparency of these activities, noting that the content of the summer camps is subject to public scrutiny.
