Lai Po-yu and Tsai Fu-cheng Advance to US Open Badminton Quarter-finals

In the Round of 16 at the BWF Super 300 US Open, defending champions Lai Po-yu and Tsai Fu-cheng defeated the American duo of Chen Zhi-yi and Presley Smith 21-19, 21-10 to advance to the final eight.

Ranked 47th globally, the Taiwanese pair faced the tournament's second seeds, Chen and Smith (ranked 26th), in a match that lasted two games. After a closely contested first game where the Taiwanese duo regained composure to win 21-19, they dominated the second game with superior court rotation and net play, closing it 21-10.

Lai and Tsai are set to face the Danish pair, Christian Faust Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer, in the next round. Meanwhile, another Taiwanese pair, Chen Zhi-rui and Lin Yu-chieh, also advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Lin Chia-yen and Lin Yung-sheng, and will next face Japan's Takuto Gotoh and Tsubasa Yoshida.
