The Women's PGA Championship, one of the five major tournaments in women's professional golf, held its opening round today. Taiwan’s Hsu Wei-ling continued her recent strong performance, recording 4 birdies and 1 bogey for a 3-under 69. She currently sits in a tie for 8th, six strokes behind the leader, South Korea’s Yoon Ina.

Hosted in Minnesota, this year's championship features a record-breaking purse of $13 million, with the winner set to earn nearly $2 million. Hsu, who recently finished tied for 3rd at the Meijer LPGA Classic, demonstrated high accuracy today, hitting 78.5% of fairways and 77.7% of greens in regulation.

Hsu noted that her driving was solid, allowing for numerous scoring opportunities. She emphasized the importance of minimizing mistakes on major championship courses. Previously, her best finish in this tournament was a tie for 10th last year. Meanwhile, veteran Yani Tseng carded a 73 and is currently tied for 70th, needing a lower score in the second round to ensure she makes the cut.
