The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) announced today that the registration process for its Central Executive Committee and Central Review Committee elections will be extended until June 29. The original deadline was scheduled for today, June 26. This decision follows the suspension of work and classes in various regions due to heavy rainfall.
According to the DPP, the extension is modeled after the Public Officials Election and Recall Act to ensure that potential candidates and party officials are not hampered by logistics and transportation challenges. The party’s National Congress is slated for July 19 at the Taipei International Convention Center, where delegates will elect the party's core leadership, including members of the Central Standing Committee and the Central Executive Committee.
Following the recent election of 297 national party delegates, these members—along with 296 ex-officio delegates comprised of lawmakers, municipal councilors, and former party chairs—totaling 593 voters, will participate in the upcoming leadership selection process. Per party regulations, the 30 elected Central Executive Committee members will subsequently vote among themselves to select 10 Central Standing Committee members.
