CWA Issues Heavy Rain Advisory: Localized Heavy to Torrential Rainfall Expected in Central and Southern Taiwan

Taipei, June 27 (CNA) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued a heavy rain advisory today due to the impact of a weather front and southwesterly winds, which are expected to bring short-duration, intense rainfall.

Localized heavy to torrential rain is forecast for Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County. Additionally, there is a chance of localized heavy rain in areas from Taichung northward, as well as in eastern Taiwan and the Penghu region.

Residents are advised to take precautions against lightning strikes and strong gusts. Low-lying areas should remain alert for potential flooding, while those in mountainous regions must exercise caution regarding landslides, falling rocks, mudslides, and sudden surges in river water levels.
