Taipei, June 24 (CNA) — The Fubon Guardians secured a 3-1 victory over the TSG Hawks on Monday, marking their 31st win of the season. This achievement sets a new franchise record for the fastest start to reach 31 victories, surpassing the previous record of 60 games set in 2019 by reaching the milestone in just 56 games.

Starting pitcher Chen Pin-hung delivered a career-best performance, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing only one hit. The team’s offense provided critical support in the third inning with four hits that resulted in three runs. This victory marked Chen's first career win and his first selection as Player of the Game, following a challenging start to the season where he suffered four losses.

Since the Fubon Group took over the team in 2017, the record for most wins in a half-season stands at 32, achieved in the second half of 2019. With a current record of 31 wins and 25 losses, the Guardians are well-positioned to challenge or break this historic mark in the remaining games.

In other CPBL action, the Rakuten Monkeys ended their five-game losing streak by defeating the Wei Chuan Dragons 7-2, backed by an offense that produced 14 hits. Pitcher Tseng Chia-hui earned his third consecutive win of the season after a quality start of six innings allowing two runs.
