Uni-Lions Rookie Wang Hsuan-Yu Makes Impressive Debut with Two Extra-Base Hits and Game-Winning RBI

On June 23, the Uni-Lions introduced two rookies, Wang Hsuan-Yu and Chuan Shao-Kai, to their active roster for the first time. In the game against the Rakuten Monkeys at Taoyuan Baseball Stadium, Wang Hsuan-Yu secured his first career hit and RBI, ultimately leading the team to a 1-0 victory and earning the game's MVP award.

Wang, a 2023 draft selection, started at third base and batted second. After flying out in the first inning, he notched his first career hit—a double—off Rakuten starter Sakakibara Motoki in the fourth. In the sixth inning, Wang delivered another double following a triple by Lin Hung-Hsien, driving in the only run of the game.

Lions starting pitcher Lin Chao-En delivered a career-high seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and striking out four to earn his second win of the season. Rakuten starter Sakakibara also recorded a quality start, pitching six innings and allowing only one earned run, but suffered the loss as the Monkeys fell to a five-game losing streak.
