Central News Agency (CNA) reported on June 22 that KMT legislator and Yilan Magistrate candidate Wu Tsung-hsien participated in a Legislative Yuan Transportation Committee inspection of local infrastructure. Meanwhile, DPP candidate Lin Kuo-chang attended a gender equality event, advocating for Yilan to become a premier city for women and children.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications reported that the high-speed rail extension has completed its secondary environmental impact assessment and is awaiting Executive Yuan approval. Other projects, including the Provincial Highway 62 extension, the Provincial Highway 2 Geng extension, and the Dongshan Interchange, are currently in various stages of planning, reporting, or review.
Wu emphasized the necessity of coordinating between central and local governments to expedite these projects, stating, "Yilan residents' rights should not be used as bargaining chips for specific purposes." He underscored that developing robust transportation infrastructure is essential for the county’s growth over the next decade.
Lin Kuo-chang attended the "Songs Supporting Women" event organized by the DPP's Gender Equality Department. He received a captain's vest and a ship's wheel from supporters, symbolizing his role in steering Yilan toward the future. Lin stated that a city's success should be measured by the security and well-being of its residents rather than solely by large-scale construction. He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritize policies focused on health, reduced burdens, accessible childcare, and workplace stability to create a family-friendly environment.
