Key news on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

(CNA reporter Pan Zhiyi, Taipei, June 22) Market research firm TrendForce released its latest panel pricing report for late June. With promotional stockpiling for the mid-year e-commerce 618 shopping festival and preparations for the FIFA World Cup now largely complete, and amid ongoing negotiations between buyers and suppliers, TV panel prices are expected to remain flat across the board in June. Price increases for monitor panels are also becoming difficult, while notebook panel prices are expected to remain flat.

TrendForce's Deputy General Manager of Research, Fan Bo-Yu, stated that TV panel demand will enter a slightly "lean period" from June to July. As signs of weakening demand emerge, brand customers are seizing the opportunity to actively negotiate special projects and pricing with panel manufacturers. Meanwhile, panel makers are adjusting production schedules and shipment plans to stabilize price trends and are focusing more on large-size panel shipments to maintain supply-demand balance. Given the current tug-of-war between buyers and sellers, June TV panel prices are expected to remain flat across all sizes.

Regarding monitor panels, Fan noted that as early stockpiling winds down, demand is gradually slowing in June. With TV panel prices already clearly stabilizing, panel manufacturers still aim to maintain upward momentum for monitor panels, but the practical difficulty is increasing. Brand customers are now requesting price stability, so under this dynamic, only select monitor sizes are expected to see minor price increases in June, with gains narrowing. Currently, panel modules for 23.8-inch FHD and 27-inch FHD are forecast to rise by $0.1 each. For open-cell panels, the 23.8-inch FHD is expected to increase by $0.2, and the 27-inch FHD by $0.1.

For notebook panels, TrendForce explained that brand customers continue to stock up in June, and panel manufacturers are actively increasing shipments to the South China market to clear capacity. As a result, overall notebook panel shipments in Q2 are still expected to grow by 4.6% quarter-on-quarter. However, panel makers remain cautious about price trends due to concerns over a significant drop in demand in the second half of the year, and are hesitant to propose price hikes. Therefore, notebook panel prices in June are expected to remain flat across the board. (Editor: Yang Kai-Xiang) 1150622
