Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated on the 21st that he fully supports the KMT legislative caucus's plan to propose its own version of a drone regulation bill. This follows discussions initiated by KMT figures regarding the need for a comprehensive framework to address drone development.

Highlighting the global shift in defense strategies prompted by the war in Ukraine, the KMT has emphasized the importance of bolstering the domestic defense industry. Chiang noted that the development of the drone sector is critical for Taiwan’s next generation of technological advancement. He believes this industry offers a vital opportunity to address domestic and defense needs while facilitating the integration of Taiwanese defense technology into the international market.

Chiang expressed that whether viewed from the perspectives of national security, industrial development, or fiscal responsibility, a thorough discussion within the Legislative Yuan is essential. He remains committed to supporting initiatives that help enhance the industry's research and development capabilities and assist domestic firms in expanding their global presence.
