The Keelung City Department of Education announced on the 20th that it has launched an investigation into allegations of child abuse at a local kindergarten. Officials have secured surveillance footage and relevant evidence to ensure a thorough inquiry. The department has committed to completing its investigation within three weeks and warned that any criminal conduct will be referred to legal authorities.
The investigation follows reports from parents who discovered bruising on their children. One parent reported that their child claimed to have been pinched by a teacher for not sleeping during nap time. Following medical examinations, other parents have also come forward with concerns regarding the treatment of their children at the facility.
In response, the Department of Education has mandated that the involved staff members be reassigned to ensure stability in the classroom while the probe continues. The city government is currently coordinating with the local police department. Should the evidence confirm criminal involvement, the city will file formal charges in accordance with the law to protect the rights of the children involved.
