GAZA STRIP (CNA) — Health officials in the Gaza Strip reported today that Israeli military operations, including artillery fire and airstrikes, have resulted in at least five deaths, including one child.

According to Reuters, medical authorities stated that an Israeli airstrike hit an apartment building in Gaza City, killing four Palestinians, including two women and one child. In a separate incident in the northern town of Beit Lahiya, medical personnel reported that Israeli forces shot and killed one woman.

The Israeli military has not yet issued a response regarding these two incidents.

While a ceasefire agreement reached last October has largely halted major combat operations between Hamas and Israel, it has not prevented continued localized strikes. Gaza authorities claim that over 1,010 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military fire since the ceasefire. Conversely, Israel maintains that its operations are necessary to preempt imminent attacks by Hamas and other militant groups.
