Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen Endorses Chang Chi-kai, Calls for KMT-TPP Cooperation in Local Elections

Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen and Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui joined Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) Chiayi mayoral candidate Chang Chi-kai for a campaign event in Chiayi City today. Mayor Lu presented Chang with a custom dragon boat paddle featuring blue and white colors, symbolizing the importance of working together toward a common goal.

Following a visit to the Chiayi City God Temple and a walk through the Dong Market, Mayor Lu addressed the media. She highlighted her long-standing professional relationship with Chang, who shares a background in media. Lu commended Chang for his integrity and oversight capabilities, expressing confidence that he would effectively carry on Mayor Huang’s policy initiatives.

Lu emphasized that the opposition must unite to maximize its political effectiveness. Having previously championed Taichung as a 'Blue-White Cooperation Demonstration Zone,' she stated her ambition to elevate this model to a nationwide 'Blue-White Cooperation Area' for the upcoming local elections. She noted that the Chiayi mayoral race is particularly critical, and by metaphorically framing the election as a dragon boat race, she encouraged the blue and white camps to row in unison to secure victory for Chang.
