The 37th Golden Melody Awards (GMA) ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 27th. To mark the occasion, TTV has produced a special program titled "GMA Heat," inviting 19 groups of nominees to discuss their creative processes and thoughts on the nomination. Among them, Chairman Mao (Wu Yong-ji) highlights his tribute to his miner father, aiming to preserve the memory of the mining industry through music.
In his debut solo album "Tui-khòo lān-ê hiann-tī," Wu Yong-ji has been nominated for Best Taiwanese Male Singer, Best Taiwanese Album, and Album of the Year. As the son of a miner, Wu realized he had never written a song for his father, leading him to document the lives of miners in his work. The music video for the track "Labor Shack" features former miners, aiming to bring this fading historical chapter to public attention.
Veteran entertainer Pai Bing-bing, with 53 years of experience, returns to the Best Taiwanese Female Singer category after a 28-year hiatus with her album "Drinking and Talking." She reflected on her resilience, comparing herself to an "invincible steel robot," and noted that the support of the audience has been her most precious gift.
Suming, nominated in three categories including Best Indigenous Language Singer and Album of the Year for "Mikerid," shared his journey of overcoming physical limitations. Following surgery that temporarily hindered his ability to play guitar, Suming utilized the recovery period for self-reflection. He noted that this process of self-reconnection is what gave birth to the vitality of his latest work.
