In the women's 60kg quarterfinal bout at the World Boxing (WB) Cup in China, Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated Brazilian world champion Rebeca Santos with a score of 5-0. This victory guarantees Lin at least a bronze medal as she advances to the final four.

The tournament, held in Guiyang, features two male and four female athletes from Taiwan. Lin, who recently moved up to the 60kg weight class, is currently refining her approach after a bronze medal finish at the Asian Championships in April.

During today’s match, the first round was highly competitive, with Lin holding a narrow 3-2 lead. However, from the second round onward, Lin successfully controlled the rhythm and countered Santos’ aggressive attempts, which were further hampered by a point deduction from the referee. By the end of the second round, Lin had established a commanding 5-0 lead. In the third round, she focused on defensive tactics to secure the win.

Coach Tseng Tzu-chiang noted that while Lin is regaining her form in high-stakes competition, the transition from the 57kg to the 60kg class requires significant tactical adjustments. He emphasized that the focus is now on countering more powerful opponents in the heavier weight division. Lin is set to face China's Yang Chengyu in the semifinals. Meanwhile, fellow Taiwanese athlete Wu Shih-yi was eliminated after a 1-4 loss to India's Prachi.
