(Central News Agency, Lin Chiao-lien, Kaohsiung, June 18) After the opening of Green Nature Park in Kaohsiung, the popular tourist attraction has driven up parking demand in the Chengcing Lake Scenic Area. The Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau announced that two parking lots, at the back entrance of Chengcing Lake and the Chengcing Lake Labyrinth Garden, have been completed and opened, adding a total of 263 car parking spaces.

In a press release issued today, the Transportation Bureau stated that to improve the parking situation around the Green Nature Park and Chengcing Lake during holidays, it has developed the "Chengcing Lake Back Entrance Parking Lot" and the "Chengcing Lake Labyrinth Garden Parking Lot" within the area, providing 92 and 171 spaces respectively.

The Transportation Bureau indicated that both Green Nature Park and the Chengcing Lake Scenic Area attract large numbers of tourists on holidays, leading to heavy traffic congestion around Qiuchang Road, Songyi Road, and Yuanshan Road. To alleviate this, the city surveyed usable space within the scenic area and built these two parking lots.

The Transportation Bureau pointed out that in addition to the 263 new spaces, combined with the existing 284 car spaces, both areas feature pedestrian paths connecting to Songyi Road. Visitors parking at the Back Entrance lot can access the park via the intersection of Songyi Road and Bade South Road, while those at the Labyrinth Garden lot can safely cross the road at the 10th Pond pedestrian light signal on Songyi Road to reach Green Nature Park.

The bureau reminded the public that these two new parking lots operate during the same hours as the Chengcing Lake area, and fees are charged according to the existing fee regulations for the scenic area. Visitors are encouraged to make use of the new facilities and follow the on-site signage and markings when parking.
