(Central News Agency reporter Chang Chi, Hualien County, June 18) The Youth Development Center of the Hualien County Government supports over 30 startup teams annually. This year, it has launched the 'Hualien County Youth Entrepreneurship Business Tax Subsidy Program,' offering eligible applicants up to NT$100,000 per year. The county government stated that the program aims to reduce initial operating costs for startups, with approximately 1,000 businesses expected to qualify.
The Youth Development Center explained that applicants for the 'Hualien County Youth Entrepreneurship Business Tax Subsidy Program' must be nationals aged 18 to 45 who have completed company, commercial, or tax registration in Hualien. The business must have been established for less than five years, or less than eight years if recognized as a new venture. The registered capital must be under NT$10 million, and the previous year's revenue must not exceed NT$5 million. Additionally, applicants must not have received similar government-subsidized business tax support.
The subsidy amount is based on the actual business tax paid, with a maximum of 50% per filing period and an annual cap of NT$100,000. The subsidy is generally provided for 24 months and is effective immediately. Details can be found on the official website of the Hualien County Government Youth Development Center.
Huang Hsiao-ying, Executive Director of the Hualien County Youth Entrepreneurship Center, stated that the startup incubation base supports more than 22 teams annually, along with specialized programs such as the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) initiative, which assists around 13 to 15 teams each year. Last year, in response to the Mata'an Creek landslide dam flood disaster, the center supported 13 local businesses in Guangfu Township.
Huang noted that young entrepreneurs often face challenges in market analysis, marketing strategies, and business planning during the early stages. From the idea phase to actual launch, applicants can receive support by applying to the Youth Development Center, which offers at least two related courses monthly, individualized services, and mentor matching.
She added that the new business tax subsidy program specifically targets early-stage entrepreneurs, providing up to 50% reimbursement to alleviate financial pressure while encouraging cost-conscious business management. Approximately 1,000 businesses are estimated to qualify, with a budget of NT$3 million allocated for this year. (Edited by Li Shu-hua) 1150618
