Music and Market Event to Kick Off at Xiuguluan River Mouth on June 20

(CNA, Hualien County, June 18, by reporter Li Hsien-feng) The "River Mouth Music Market" in Fengbin Township, Hualien, will debut on June 20. Local partners from Fengbin and Changbin, Taitung, have gathered under the theme "Lovers of the River" to showcase the unique lifestyle of the Xiuguluan River area, inviting the public to visit the Shuangbin (Fengbin and Changbin) area and enjoy the event during the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend.

Initiated by New Pacific No. 1 Store and co-organized by the Jingpu Community Development Association of Fengbin Township along with local partners from Hualien's Fengbin and Taitung's Changbin, the event offers a rich variety of exciting activities. It includes exclusive experiences like an ecological tour of C'epo'lan Island and river mouth yoga, making it suitable for a family outing.

The "River Mouth Music Market" will be held at the Sun Square of Jingpu Village and the Xiuguluan River in Fengbin. A natural water park is designed for the event, where visitors can paddle bamboo rafts on the river to enjoy music from a water stage, go river tracing, or play in the water. Nearly 40 unique market stalls will also be set up on-site.

Musical performances will feature "cawi’ay" from Jingpu Village, the "Changbin Township Youth" group of six young people from Changguang Village, and singer-songwriter Hsiao Lai (Lai Yi-ting), among others. A special highlight will be the first-time invitation of fire dancer Chung Jung-che, who will light up the Xiuguluan River mouth with brilliant fireballs. The event will conclude with a performance by the "Lan Hsin Orchestra," a group of young people from the Amis, Atayal, and Rukai tribes, who sing about their cultural and life experiences in their communities.

The organizers stated that in addition to the music market on the 20th, they have partnered with businesses in Fengbin and Changbin to offer multiple experiential activities from the 19th to the 22nd. These range from yoga and singing bowls to visiting indigenous villages to learn about brewing culture and local-style cocktails, and even a trip to C'epo'lan Island to learn about the estuary's ecosystem. The public is invited to step into the lives of local residents and experience the natural and cultural charm of the Hualien-Taitung area.
