Central News Agency, Penghu County, June 16 A lingering frontal system has brought abundant rainfall to Penghu. The Penghu Operations Office of the Water Supply Corporation announced today that three surface reservoirs—Chenggong, Xingren, and Dongwei—gained nearly 100,000 tons of water over three days. The current daily water supply in the Penghu region is approximately 30,000 tons.

According to observations from the Penghu Meteorological Station, the frontal system brought significant rainfall over just three days. Qimei Island recorded the highest cumulative rainfall at 162 millimeters, followed by Wang’an and Magong areas, both nearing 100 millimeters.

Chiu Chuan-chan, Director of the Penghu Operations Office, stated that the three reservoirs—Chenggong, Xingren, and Dongwei—collectively gained 96,000 tons of water over three days. Chenggong Reservoir gained the most at 54,000 tons, while Xingren and Dongwei reservoirs each gained about 20,000 tons. The total storage across the three reservoirs now stands at approximately 1.3 million tons.

Chiu noted that the current daily water supply in Penghu is about 30,000 tons, with around 70% supplied by desalination plants, and the remainder supplied through a combination of reservoir and groundwater sources. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150616
