(CNA reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, June 16) — Taichung police reported today that they received an overseas appeal for help from the family of a Canadian man who had been missing for several days. Police, together with fire department personnel, visited the man's residence and discovered he had been dead for several days. Preliminary investigations suggest no signs of external force, and authorities have notified prosecutors to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Taichung City Police Bureau's Sixth Precinct stated that they received a call today from the overseas family of a foreign national, requesting assistance in checking on a Canadian man in his 50s who had been unreachable for several days.
At around 6 a.m. today, police and personnel from the Taichung City Fire Department went to the man's residence on Section 2, Xitun Road in the Xitun District. With the landlord's assistance in opening the door, they found the man lying on his bed, clearly deceased for several days.
Police confirmed the man had a medical history and prior medical visits. It is suspected that physical discomfort may have led to his death. After on-site investigation and evidence collection, no signs of external force were found. The case has been referred to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
