US-Iran War Key News

(Washington, 14th, Central News Agency - international wire reports) The Hill reported that Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed concern today over 'differences' in how the United States and the Iranian government interpret their recently reached agreement.

Graham, a prominent hawk on Iran, wrote on social platform X: 'Glad to hear there's an agreement on a memorandum of understanding allowing the Strait of Hormuz to remain open. I will be closely watching follow-up negotiations on Iran's nuclear program and other matters.'

The South Carolina Republican added: 'I'm a bit concerned that Iran's view of this agreement appears to differ from what the U.S. negotiating team claims.'

President Trump announced the agreement earlier this afternoon, symbolizing a potential end to over three and a half months of conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Hill has not yet received further details from the White House regarding the agreement.

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the final draft of the agreed-upon memorandum requires the United States to refrain from imposing new sanctions on Iran before a final agreement is reached and to release $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

The official also told Reuters that under the draft, Iran has agreed not to produce or acquire nuclear weapons and to halt further uranium enrichment activities and nuclear facility expansions.

Meanwhile, Graham emphasized today that 'any nuclear agreement with Iran will be submitted to Congress for review and vote.'

Graham added: 'I look forward to reviewing the final outcome, and I believe the architects of this agreement—Vice President JD Vance and his negotiating partners—must participate in the process of submitting the final deal to Congress. Congratulations to everyone for getting this far; time will tell.' (Translation: Li Pei-shan) 1150615
