U.S.-Iran War Key News

(Tehran, June 15, CNA) According to Bloomberg News, Iran's Fars News Agency cited a knowledgeable source stating that under a temporary agreement reached between the U.S. and Iran, Iran will allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz free of charge for 60 days.

The report indicated that after the 60-day period, Iran plans to charge commercial shipping vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz for safety, navigation, environmental, and insurance services to increase government revenue.

According to AFP, Fars News Agency reported that Iranian authorities added a clause on charging for maritime services shortly before announcing the framework agreement with the U.S.

The U.S. and Iran announced yesterday that they have reached a consensus on a ceasefire framework, with both sides set to hold negotiations within two months to finalize a comprehensive agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route that had been effectively blocked by Iran for several months, will reopen following the signing of the preliminary agreement on June 19. (Translator: Gao Zhaofen; Reviewer: Chen Zhengjian) 1150615
