The Taipei stock market opened higher and continued to rise throughout the day, closing up 1,227.95 points at 45,396.99, a 2.78% gain. The total trading value reached NT$1.063992 trillion.
The weighted index opened at 44,447.87, with an intraday high of 45,483.63 and a low of 44,447.87. The non-financial index closed at 40,854.8, up 1,105.88 points.
Performance by eight major sectors: Cement and ceramics stocks rose 2.41%, food stocks fell 0.3%, petrochemical stocks surged 3.81%, textile stocks gained 0.33%, machinery and electronics stocks climbed 2.96%, paper stocks rose 0.52%, construction stocks increased 0.59%, and financial stocks advanced 2.76%.
Buy orders totaled 22,278,730 lots, sell orders reached 16,334,754 lots, and the total traded volume was 12,547,156 lots.
At closing, 742 stocks rose, 288 declined, and 73 remained unchanged.
The top five most actively traded stocks were Active United Upgrade 50, UMC, Active United Taiwan Stock Growth, Yuanta Taiwan 50 Pro 2, and Kang-Yi Taiwan Select High Dividend.
The top five gainers were Junbao, Dingyuan, Belike, Photomask, and Honghui.
The top five decliners were Futures Streetkou Brent Pro 2, Laiyi-KY, PChome, Fengtai, and Senwei Energy.
