(Central News San Francisco 11th comprehensive foreign wire report)Veteran lobbyist Andrews announced today on the business social platform 'LinkedIn' that NVIDIA (Nvidia) has hired him. Andrews is a former Intel government affairs manager and has experience as a commercial affairs officer in the Obama administration.
Reuters reported that the timing of Andrews' move to NVIDIA coincides with NVIDIA's active efforts to strengthen its influence in Washington DC. Additionally, NVIDIA has long hoped to expand into the Chinese market but faces a new round of strict scrutiny in its business dealings with China.
Andrews has extensive experience, having served as the government affairs manager at Intel (Intel) during the tenure of former CEO Pat Gelsinger and as a commercial affairs officer in the Obama administration.
Andrews stated on LinkedIn (LinkedIn): "I look forward to helping NVIDIA lead the AI revolution and bring new breakthroughs to the United States and the world."
According to Andrews' post on LinkedIn, he will directly report to NVIDIA's General Counsel Tim Teter in his new role as 'Vice President of External Affairs.' NVIDIA declined to comment on this, and Andrews himself did not respond to requests for comment.
NVIDIA has obtained authorization from the U.S. government to sell lower-end H200 chips to China. Reuters reported in May of this year that the U.S. had approved approximately 10 Chinese companies to purchase NVIDIA's H200 AI processors, but at that time, no shipment had been delivered to any of the companies.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has previously emphasized the importance of selling hardware to China, warning that non-U.S. companies could take advantage of the situation and erode market share, reaping the benefits.
