Car Crash in Taichung's Wuqi District: Vehicle Hits Tree, Resulting in 2 Dead and 1 Injured

(Central News Agency reporter Su Mu-Chun, Taichung, December 11) Taichung police reported tonight that a passenger car in Wuqi District veered off the road and collided with roadside vehicles and a tree, resulting in one person being ejected from the vehicle and two others trapped inside. Firefighters arrived on the scene and transported all three injured individuals to hospitals. Two were pronounced dead due to severe injuries, while one remains hospitalized for observation. Police have cordoned off the area to investigate the cause of the accident.

The Taichung City Fire Bureau stated that at 6:40 p.m. today, they received a report of a passenger car crashing into roadside vehicles and a tree on Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Wuqi District, with possible individuals trapped. Emergency rescue units were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters reported three injured individuals at the scene. Two were trapped inside the vehicle. One male occupant was rescued with multiple abrasions and was conscious; he was transported to Tong General Hospital's Wuci Branch for treatment and is currently hospitalized for observation. Another male was in OHCA (Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest) condition upon arrival and was rushed to Kuang-Tian General Hospital's Xiangshang Branch, but could not be revived and was pronounced dead.

Additionally, one male was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was also found in OHCA condition. He was transported to Tong General Hospital's Wuci Branch but succumbed to his injuries.

The Wuqi Precinct of Taichung City Police Department conducted a preliminary investigation, revealing that a 29-year-old man surnamed Hsu was driving the passenger car, carrying two 18-year-old male passengers surnamed Chen. While passing through the incident location, the vehicle lost control for unknown reasons, collided with a roadside vehicle, and then overturned.
