(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 10, Reporter Jiang Mingyan) EVA Air has reversed the traditional slow season. Benefiting from high load factors on European and American routes, events like COMPUTEX, and the effect of international consecutive holidays, the airline recorded its highest-ever passenger revenue for May. Cargo revenue surged 41% year-on-year. The dual strength in passenger and cargo operations drove May revenue to a new single-month high and the first five months' revenue to a record for the same period.

EVA Air's passenger revenue for May was NT$13.36 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.35%, setting a new record for the same period. Cargo revenue was NT$6.485 billion, up 41.54% year-on-year. Consolidated revenue reached NT$22.329 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.11%, marking a new all-time high for single-month consolidated revenue.

EVA Air stated that cumulative passenger revenue for the first five months reached NT$66.963 billion, and cumulative consolidated revenue reached NT$104.813 billion, both setting new records for the same period.

Regarding passenger services, EVA Air noted that although May is traditionally a slow season, the uncertainty of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has restricted supply on some routes in the European market, concentrating demand on the westbound market and keeping load factors on European routes high. The Americas routes benefited from the transition to the peak season in late May, with schools in North America entering summer break and events like the COMPUTEX exhibition on June 2 gradually boosting demand.

On short-haul routes, EVA Air observed that bookings remained strong due to the combined effects of the May Day holidays in Taiwan and China, Japan's Golden Week, Malaysia's School Holiday in mid-May, and Thailand's Visakha Bucha Day holiday at the end of the month. The combination of rising load factors and sustained high ticket prices resulted in strong May revenue despite the slow season.

In the cargo sector, EVA Air indicated that demand in the air freight market remained robust in May. Space demand for AI supply chain-related products such as semiconductors, servers, and cooling equipment continued to be high. Demand for seasonal fresh cargo by air also gradually increased, further boosting overall air freight volume.

Furthermore, EVA Air will launch a direct flight from Taoyuan to Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, starting June 26. The service will operate four times a week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft configured with three classes, featuring a 4th-generation Premium Economy class with specifications comparable to business class.
