MOFA: U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to WTO Visits Taiwan to Enhance Understanding of Taiwan's Development

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced today that David Bisbee, the U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO), is visiting Taiwan. He will call on the Office of Trade Negotiations of the Executive Yuan, attend a luncheon hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, and visit Taiwanese technology companies to enhance his understanding of Taiwan's current economic, trade, and democratic situation.

According to a press release from MOFA, Bisbee is visiting Taiwan from June 10 to 14 at Taiwan's invitation. During his visit, Bisbee will meet with the Office of Trade Negotiations of the Executive Yuan, the Mainland Affairs Council, and the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and will attend a luncheon hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung. He will also visit relevant technology companies to gain a better understanding of Taiwan's development in areas such as economy, trade, technology, and democracy.

MOFA explained that Bisbee has long served in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), having held positions such as the USTR Representative in Geneva and the Deputy Assistant USTR for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, making him highly experienced in international trade affairs.

MOFA stated that the United States is a solid partner of Taiwan. The ministry expressed hope that both sides can continue to deepen interaction and exchange, whether in bilateral or multilateral trade systems, to jointly promote the stable development of the Taiwan-U.S. partnership.
