São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade 30th Anniversary: Street Call for Diversity and Inclusion

This year's theme, '30 Years of Pride Parade: Street Call, Vote Confirmation,' highlights the importance of memory, rights, and political participation.

The parade featured 14 floats carrying famous Brazilian singers, with the crowd dancing to the music, showcasing diverse cultures. Many families attended with their children, symbolizing that this is a public space for everyone. Participants from around the world stated that their goal was to prove that 'this is about love, pride, and the future.'

Congresswoman Sâmia Bomfim noted that conservative forces still exist in Brazilian society, but '30 years of existence and resistance prove that people can fight for their rights in adversity.' Toni Reis, president of the National LGBTI+ Alliance, called on voters to 'vote with pride and elect representatives who defend human rights and education.'

The 'Solidarity Box' (Camarote Solidário) of the well-known 'AIDS News Agency' (Agência Aids) at the São Paulo Pride Parade entered its 23rd year this year. Led by founder Roseli Tardelli, it continues to promote prevention and public welfare, setting up interactive information stations offering testing services and collecting food to aid vulnerable families.

Chi Huang Hsiu-li, founder of the Brazilian Taiwanese community group 'Love, Warmth, and Song' and the charity 'Love Gives Itself' (Amor Se Doa), who was invited to the box event, told Central News Agency that love should embrace differences, respect, and inclusion, allowing everyone to coexist equally and harmoniously. She emphasized that even if it is difficult to understand, love and respect are the most important things, and every kind of love should be treated well and not face discrimination. She stressed that the world should accept everyone, just as São Paulo is known for its inclusivity, which is why it can host the world's largest pride parade.

Elza Paulina, the Brazilian brand ambassador for 'Love Gives Itself,' stated that division only weakens strength, and only unity can advance civil society. She called on communities to work together to achieve equality and respect in public spaces.

Since its debut in 1997, the Pride Parade has become an annual event and an international symbol for São Paulo. Thirty years later, the event is not just a celebration but a continuous action against discrimination and for equality.
